Silver Jubilee of Fr. Joseph Vu SVD

The Parishioners of St. Mark’s Parish were delighted to celebrate with Fr Joseph Vu SVD the Silver Jubilee of his vows in Religious Life.  Fr. Joseph was professed in Divine Word Missionaries Order on 24th August 1991.

The  Parish Pastoral Council and Hospitality Group organized a beautiful event for Fr. Joseph on Sunday 14th of August at the 9.30am Mass. Concelebrating with his brother priests, Fr. Joseph celebrated the Parish Mass as a Thanksgiving Mass.  Fr. Stephen Pilly SVD, Parish Priest, welcomed the gathering and spoke about the life and ministry of Fr. Joseph Vu SVD.  Fr. Peter Pham SJ preached the homily about the spiritual power of fire in our lives and the religious commitment and service of Fr Vu to Divine Word Missionaries, the Church and humanity. Prayers during the Mass were ones of thanksgiving and praise for Fr Joseph, his family and his ministry to the Divine Word and the parish.

After Communion, there was the presentation of gifts and the celebration cake. Mr John Muni, Deputy Parish Council Chairperson, acknowledged and thanked Fr Joseph for serving the parish and Vietnamese community at Inala.  The Parish then presented Fr Joseph with a bouquet of flowers, card and gift.  Fr. Joseph cut the Jubilee cake and the parish choir sang a song for him. This was followed by a speech from Fr Joseph.

Fr Joseph thanked God for the gift of religious life and priesthood. He very humbly acknowledged that though he is unworthy to be the servant of God, God has called him to be a servant to serve humanity in the Divine Word missionary order.  Having celebrated spiritually during the Mass, all the parishioners together with Fr. Joseph shared a cuppa in front of the church.  Parishioners brought plates of food to share.

It was a beautiful occasion for the parishioners to spend time together and to show their appreciation for the ministry of Fr Joseph.
