St.Mark’s was proud to host this year’s Multicultural and Ecumenical Christmas Carol Service – a combined initiative of the Churches of the Inala and neighbouring suburbs.
The evening was a vibrant celebration of the Christmas Story, accompanied by Bible Readings and Carols, led by the various participating community groups and churches. Through language and song, everyone was united in welcoming the Christmas Season together.
After a traditional welcome from a member of Ngutana Lui and a warm welcome from Father Bang of St.Mark’s, the proceedings were capably led by the M.C., Mr.Sang. Traditional Christmas celebrations from Samoan, Tongan, Vietnamese, African and Australian communities followed, interspersed with community carol singing led by Musical Director Kay Hartwig, Lead Singer Leilani Niedermayr and St.Mark’s own choir.
The Reverend Carol Palmer from St.High’s Anglican Parish delivered a poignant Christmas Message and the Reverend Jeriko Sopoaga from Inala Uniting Church led the closing prayers.
Thanks were given to all who helped to make the evening a success before sharing in a feast of multicultural delights that everyone had brought to share.
